Overview
Maestro is a desktop app for orchestrating fleets of AI coding agents across complex, long-running development tasks. It brings agent conversations, workspaces, automation, source control, and remote execution into one interface, with support for Claude Code, Codex, Copilot, and OpenCode sessions.
Each agent retains its own workspace, history, task memory, and isolated context. Users can run multiple instances in parallel, monitor progress in real time, and resume discovered sessions from a searchable session library.
Key Features
- Run unlimited supported coding-agent instances in parallel with isolated workspaces and contexts.
- Preview, edit, and search files alongside a full terminal and built-in browser in workspace tabs.
- Use a chat interface with image annotation, agent mentions, custom slash commands, syntax highlighting, Mermaid diagrams, and LaTeX rendering.
- Review automatically detected repositories through branch information, diffs, commit logs, and worktree-based isolation.
- Control agents from a phone through a built-in web server, using local access or a Cloudflare tunnel.
- Orchestrate agents on remote hosts over SSH while keeping them visible in the same fleet view.
Automation and Collaboration
Auto Run allows agents to continue working for hours on complex assignments. Markdown checklists can be batch-processed as repeatable playbooks, while progress remains visible during execution.
Maestro Cue adds event-driven automation that can trigger prompts after file changes, timers, GitHub activity, or another agent completing its work. These triggers can be chained into self-running pipelines and are disabled by default until enabled in settings.
Agents can also collaborate through moderated, multi-round group chats. An inline mention can request a consultation from another local or SSH-connected agent without blocking the current conversation.
Command-Line and Workflow Options
Maestro includes a command-line interface for headless operation. Playbooks can run from cron jobs or CI/CD pipelines, with JSON output available for scripting and automation.
For keyboard-driven work, the app provides nearly 100 customizable shortcuts, quick actions, and a command palette. Automatic session discovery makes it possible to browse, search, star, rename, and resume conversations created by supported agent providers.
Optional and Release-Candidate Features
Additional capabilities can be enabled in settings, while some newer options are limited to release-candidate builds. These include a searchable fleet-wide timeline with AI-written activity briefings, usage dashboards, interactive agent output views, terminal and browser awareness with user-granted controls, nested fleet groups, and a manager agent that watches selected agents for stalled questions.
Maestro is open source under the AGPL-3.0 license. Some extras are optional plugins, while established features may become enabled by default as the app evolves.
