Introduction

Overview

shpyrd is a deployment platform for applications created with AI coding tools. It takes projects from a local folder to a hosted address with TLS, access control, application processes, data services, and operational tooling in one project.

It works with agents including Claude Code, Codex, and Cursor, which can deploy apps, inspect logs and metrics, and roll back releases through the shpyrd CLI. The platform is also available as open-source software under the MPL-2.0 license for self-hosting.

Key Features

  • Adds a sign-in layer without requiring authentication code inside the deployed app.
  • Grants app access and management rights to named people or teams.
  • Provides Postgres, Valkey, persistent volumes, web processes, and background workers.
  • Deploys from a local folder or Git using buildpacks or a Dockerfile.
  • Tracks requests, response times, errors, CPU, memory, releases, and administrative activity.
  • Supports release rollback, custom domains on paid plans, and configurable backups on higher tiers.

How It Works

After installing the CLI and connecting shpyrd to an AI agent, the user signs into a workspace. From an app folder, the agent can deploy the project, then share it with a team or specific colleagues using the permissions of the signed-in user.

Each update creates a release. If an update causes problems, logs can identify the affected release and the app can be returned to an earlier version. Idle applications can sleep and wake on an authenticated visit, while bots and unauthenticated visitors do not wake them.

Deployment Use Cases

shpyrd supports web apps, sites, APIs, agents, internal tools, and side projects. Businesses can place independently created team applications behind company sign-in, while developers and delivery partners can use consistent deployment, release, and handover processes.

Pricing

The Free plan costs $0 and includes up to four projects, with an aggregate ceiling of 2 CPU cores and 256 MiB of memory. Starter has a $5 monthly minimum and unlimited projects; Pro has a $49 minimum with daily backups, priority support, SSO, and audit logs; Business has a $499 minimum with hourly backups, private network applications, SLA support, and VPC peering.

Paid plans add metered charges for CPU use, reserved memory while awake, storage capacity, and outbound traffic. Sleeping applications use no compute or memory, although stored data remains billable. Enterprise deployment in a customer's own cloud is offered for custom requirements.
