Introduction

Overview

Muniment is a desktop-first workspace that brings AI conversations together with files, a terminal, and a browser. It is designed for people who use their own model accounts and tools and want to keep project work and conversations in one place.

The local desktop harness supports direct model selection as well as optional automated routing. Its workspace can preserve repeatable workflows as agents, skills, or plugins and keep editable outputs beside the conversation that created them.

Key Features

  • Route each request manually or use a supported classifier to select a response model according to configured preferences and a fallback.
  • Distribute requests across connected accounts with allowance tracking and automatic failover when an account cannot serve a request.
  • Turn recurring work into reusable agents that retain a goal, instructions, expected output, and conversation context.
  • Create reports, dashboards, and interactive tools as artifacts that can be saved and revised in a dedicated chat.
  • Connect MCP servers to their providers and choose skills or plugins with slash commands.
  • Inspect files, execute terminal commands, and browse without leaving the project workspace.

Model Routing and Accounts

Muniment can connect Jev, TypeSafe’s System One model, or another supported classifier as a decision model. The classifier receives request text and chooses a response model based on the user’s routing configuration, while manual selection remains available.

Classification is optional: account load balancing can operate without it. Model usage and associated costs are determined by each provider rather than by the local desktop application.

Desktop Availability

Release 0.0.2 provides desktop downloads for macOS 13 or later on Apple silicon and Intel, Windows on x64, and Linux on x86_64. Windows offers per-user MSI, all-users MSI, and EXE installers, while Linux offers DEB and AppImage packages; the Linux AppImage requires FUSE 2.

The desktop application is free, and its source is distributed under the FSL. The local app does not require a cloud subscription; paid cloud services for shared work, scheduled execution, and hosted routing are described as a later phase.
