Overview
All Your Agents is a harness-neutral Node.js API and command-line interface for observing coding-agent sessions on a machine. It tracks live activity and preserves access to session history, allowing developers to see which agents are running, waiting, idle, finished, or failed.
The library watches files already written by each supported harness and the processes that write them. Its event-driven design avoids polling and coalesces bursts of file activity before updating session state.
Key Features
- Emits session creation and other activity events through a JavaScript API.
- Lists live sessions in a full-screen terminal view, prioritizing agents waiting for input.
- Provides one-shot table and JSON output for command-line use.
- Includes historical sessions and transcript viewing from the terminal interface.
- Supports custom filesystem and process adapters for observing a remote machine.
- Stops file and process watchers when the API is shut down.
Compatibility
The project documents compatibility details for multiple coding-agent harnesses, including Claude, Grok, Codex, and omp. Coverage includes foreground, background, nested, and subagent sessions, though individual harness storage behavior can limit whether approval states, errors, or headless runs are visible live.
All Your Agents requires Node.js 20 or newer and supports macOS and Linux. Some omp transcript handling requires Node.js 22.13 or a custom SQLite reader, while running the included TypeScript demos directly requires Node.js 22.18 or newer.
How to Use
Install the package through npm, then initialize the API with the built-in providers and subscribe to session events before starting it. For terminal use, the CLI can open an updating live view, print the current sessions once, or emit live-session data as JSON.
